The Benefits of Regular Massage: Why Consistency Matters

Massage isn’t something you save for when your shoulders are somewhere up near your ears.

Regular massage helps manage muscle tension, support comfortable movement, encourages relaxation, and give your massage therapist a better understanding of how your body responds over time.

At Sunshine City Massage and Spa, we think of it simply: care is cumulative.

What Are the Benefits of Regular Massage?

One massage can feel fantastic. Being consistent with maintenance massage gives you the opportunity to address tension before it becomes the only thing you notice.

Depending on your body, goals, and the type of massage you receive, regular massage may help with:

  • Muscle tension and soreness
  • Comfortable range of motion and movement
  • Recovery from activity and repetitive use
  • Relaxation and stress management
  • Body awareness
  • General aches and discomfort

It also gives your massage therapist useful context. Instead of meeting your shoulders for the first time every six months, we can notice patterns, learn what works well for you, and adjust each session accordingly.

How Often Should You Get a Massage?

There isn’t a magic schedule.

Someone dealing with a particularly demanding training schedule or persistent muscular tension may benefit from more frequent sessions for a period of time. Someone primarily looking for relaxation and general maintenance may find that once a month works beautifully.

Your schedule might be weekly, every few weeks, monthly, or simply when your body tells you it’s time.

We don’t sell memberships at Sunshine City Massage and Spa, and we don’t believe everyone needs the same treatment schedule. We’d rather help you find a rhythm that makes sense for your body, goals, time, and budget.

Does the Type of Massage Matter?

Absolutely, but you don’t need to diagnose yourself from a service menu. Choose the massage type or modality that makes the most sense to you and we will always help you determine if that’s the best treatment for the way you feel when you show up.

Introductory Massage For New Clients

Take the guess work out of what type of massage you need and let our licensed massage therapists help you decide what’s best. We’ll do a thorough intake to determine your likes and needs and assess what modality will benefit you best so you know how to book after your first visit.

Pure Relaxation Massage

When you need to just zen out and chill. The Pure Relaxation Massage is designed to calm and soothe your muscles which helps promote parasympathetic mode and encourages the mind to calm and rest. Think of it as an hour vacation from the stress of daily life … no passport needed.

Therapeutic Relaxation Massage

Our signature massage blends relaxation with focused therapeutic work. For when you want to unwind but also have specific areas that could use a therapeutic approach. This is the service that Jordan created based on what he actually wants when he gets a massage. It’s the best of both worlds all rolled into one amazing massage. Book 90 or even 120 minutes to really be able to get the best of both.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage can be useful when your preference and goals call for slower, more focused work and deeper pressure. More pressure isn’t automatically better, and deep tissue shouldn’t mean enduring a painful massage. Your therapist will work intelligently deep, based on how your tissue responds and what your preference is. We emphasize the importance of understanding the difference between intense and painful, intense can be beneficial while pain is just a no no.

Sports Massage

Sports massage can focus on the muscles and movement patterns involved in your activities, whether you’re training seriously, exercising recreationally, or simply asking a lot of your body.

Your massage can also change from visit to visit. What your body needs this month may not be what it needs next month.

Why We Don’t Do Cookie-Cutter Massage

Our menu gives you a place to start. Your session is still yours.

We review your goals, preferences, relevant health history, pressure preferences, and what’s happening in your body that day. From there, your therapist adapts the session rather than following the exact same routine for everyone who books the same service.

Our therapists will adapt your session in real time based on what they feel and how your respond. Need more or less pressure, just let us know.

That’s the difference between simply getting a massage and building a useful relationship with bodywork.
